Detection of Blood Parasites in Fish

Fish are often infected with different blood protozoa of the genera Babesiosoma, Trypanosoma, and Hemogrigarina. These parasites match which infect mammals. A total 120 samples from five fish species (Barbus grypus, Barbus sharpyi, Liza abu, Carasobarbus luteus, Aspius vorax) were collected Khazar River in Ninevah Governorate, Iraq at weekly intervals during period April 2022 to October for detection hematological analysis. Thin thick Giemsa stained smears revealed significant infection Babes iosoma, Haemogregarina recorded 32%, 16%, 8% luteus samples, respectively; 30%, 15%, 10% B. sharpyi 23.3%, 16.7%, 6.7% grypus respectively. No Trypanosoma or Babesiosoma L. Abu, no A. vorax. Hematological parameters showed a decrease hemoglobin concentration, red cells, stacked cell size along increase number inflammatory cells including lymphocytes, eosinophils, basophils.
